The ESLTA leagues may be over for this year but, as always, there are still lots of playing opportunities at Lomond Park.

Sunday 4 July is American Independence Day and also Wimbledon Men's Final Day so what could be more fitting than to combine both of these for our own unique Sandy Macrae Charity Cup, rearranged from mid June.  Play starts at 12 noon sharp so please register by 11.45am.  This is an American tournament (partners drawn randomly for each round) with a very quirky ending!  ALL members young and old, wonderfully skilled and woefully hopeless, are very welcome to join in to raise funds for St Columba's Hospice.  We will try to get finished before the Wimbledon final so that we can compare and contrast our shots with the big guys.  Despite very mixed weather, this event did go ahead and raised over £200 - and we even managed to cook the BBQ outdoors!  Derek Watson won the Cup and will choose a charity to play for next year.

Don't miss the opportunity to sign up for the Senior Tournament - entries close on Sunday 11 July.  It would be good to see all members of our 8 senior teams competing this year.  Juniors aged 15 and over are also welcome to enter.  Senior Finals Day will be held on Saturday 4 September and all members are warmly invited to support and to enjoy the fabulous Lomond Park afternoon tea.  Entries have officially closed but do email Judith, Simon, Jacquie or Jonathan if you would still like to enter - holidays mean that the draw will be a little later than originally planned.

The Junior Tournament was very successful as always and it was a real pleasure to watch so many juniors in action on Finals Day. We are lucky in having depth across the age groups providing really competitive matches and a sense that this healthy situation will continue for at least the next few years.   Our club Junior Champions are David November and Sarah Law, both of whom have played in the senior teams this season.   We would be delighted to see juniors at Ladies and Mens Nights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays respectively.  These evenings provide an opportunity to mix in and play social and competitive tennis with players of all abilities.  Please do just come along from 6.30pm onwards.

You may have noticed that the blue chairs in the clubhouse have been replaced.  The blue chairs are now in the changing rooms and if any member can make use of them please just take one or more away.  If they remain unclaimed by the end of the summer they will be given to charity.

Deuce Academy is holding 2 one week summer camps at Lomond Park starting on Monday 5 July and Monday 2 August.  Details of these and all other Deuce Academy events on their website.

We have enjoyed a fantastic few weeks' weather - let's hope that it continues and that all of us can enjoy some great days and evenings on the courts.
